UPDATE: Missing Champaign County teen found safe

**** Update: Thanks to the attentiveness and quick action of two concerned citizens, the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office received credible information that missing person Alaina Caldwell was in Clyde, Ohio. They acted immediately on the information and traveled to Clyde. With cooperation from the Clyde Police Department, they were able to act swiftly and bring Alaina to safety.

A special appreciation goes out to Chief Monti Campbell, K-9 Officer Carla Schaffer, and Sergeant James Snell, whose dedication, collaboration, and commitment to public safety made all the difference.

This successful outcome is a powerful reminder of what is accomplished when law enforcement and the community work together.

Authorities are searching for a missing teenager who left her home in the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 25.

14-year-old Alaina Jane Caldwell, described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 110 pounds, was last seen around 1:26 a.m., leaving her residence on North State Route 68 in Champaign County.

She has hazel eyes and brown hair and was wearing grey Jordan sweatpants, brown Ugg sneakers, and brown glasses at the time she went missing.

Investigators believe Alaina may be attempting to locate or reunite with her biological family.

The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who has seen Alaina or has information about her whereabouts to call 937-653-3409 immediately.

Authorities continue to actively investigate and are urging the public to share any relevant details to assist in locating her safely.
