Updated: Lady Tigers fall to Cedarville – Thursday volleyball scores

Varsity Lady TigersSeveral local volleyball teams were in action Thursday.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity girls lost to Cedarville in 3 sets: 25-23, 25-22, and 25-23.

Jamie Peterson recorded 16 digs, 14 kills, and 5 blocks, Abbey Siegenthaler tallied 14 digs, Kylie Gilroy had 4 aces and 24 assists, Mollie Etgen pounded 4 kills, and Kylee Hormann contributed 4 blocks and 4 kills.

The West Liberty-Salem JV defeated Cedarville in 2 sets: 25-19 and 25-18.

Kursten Nisonger had 3 kills, Kelby Strapp recorded 5 digs, and Kiana Reames and Abby Stewart each tallied 5 aces.

The Benjamin Logan varsity team sent their seniors out in style with a 4-set victory over Greenon. The scores were 25-10, 25-21, 17-25, and 25-18.

The seniors had a big night. Alex Thompson had 17 kills and 4 blocks. Taylor Quay produced 16 kills and 4 blocks and Jennifer Poling recorded 11 kills and 12 digs. Junior Katie Bisel added 6 blocks and junior Brittany Burton was solid on serving with 12 points and 2 aces.

Benjamin Logan finished the regular season 14-8 overall and 7-3 in the CBC.

The JV Raiders finished their season 17-2 with a 2-set victory over Greenon. The scores were 25-6 and 25-2.

Betsy King recorded 15 points with 5 aces, Ashley Wilkins pounded 4 kills, Bri Frazier added 6 points with 4 aces, and Darien Bricker had 6 points with 3 aces.

The varsity opens tournament play on Tuesday against Trotwood-Madison at Tecumseh High School. Game time is 7:30.

The Bellefontaine varsity lost at Springfield Shawnee in four sets: 25-23, 13-25, 12-25, and 12-25.

Carley Strzalka had 16 digs and was 14-for-14 serving with 3 aces, Kenzie Brunswick had 10 kills and 11 digs, Jazmyn Haley recorded 8 kills and 5 digs, Jordan Lininger delivered 23 assists, Kameren Haley tallied 6 kills and 11 digs, and Amanda Case added 10 digs.

The JV Chiefs lost 25-15, 25-13.

The freshman fell 25-18, 25-19.

Bellefontaine (13-9, 4-6) will open tournament play Tuesday vs. Greenon at Tecumseh High School. The game starts at 6:00.

The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade lost to Mechanicsburg in 3 sets: 25-15, 24-26, and 23-25.

Allie Yoder and Abby Dillon each recorded 12 points.

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade defeated Mechanicsburg in 2 sets: 25-13 and 25-16.

Arrah Sandy tallied 9 points and Breann Koons added 8 points.
