The West Liberty-Salem boys golf team is headed to the state tournament.
The Tigers easily won the Division III district tournament at Weatherwax Golf Course in Middletown Thursday.
WLS fired a 317. League rival Springfield Catholic was a distant second with a 342.
Junior standout Nick Sims was medalist with a 73.
Senior Jacob Rutan was third overall with a 77, Ethan McBean shot an 81, Casey Gay recorded an 86, and Kannon Stillings added an 88.
Coach Darrin Leichty said, "We played well in the rain and were even stronger after the weather delays. I am so proud of how the guys battled today. We are going to enjoy this tonight and then turn our focus to next week. Nick was solid today, especially on the greens."
The state tournament is next Friday and Saturday.
