Updated: Lady Tigers shut out Triad – Thursday soccer finals

Local soccer teams hit the field Thursday.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity girls shut out Triad 8-0.

Morgan Freyhof scored 3 goals and Catherin Williams, Annika Wolfe, Mia Walters, Kelsi Dowden, and Rose Yoder each added a goal.

Freyhof delivered 2 assists and Abigail Rabenstein, Christy Kauffman, and Wolfe each contributed an assist.

The Lady Tigers improve to 9-3 overall and 6-2 in league play and travel to Southeastern Saturday.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity boys fell to visiting Triad 2-1.

The Tigers had two shots hit the crossbar.

Will Hagstrom scored their lone goal on an assist from Eli Woodruff.

Sam Warye had 4 saves in goal.

West Liberty-Salem (6-6-1) will play at Southeastern on Saturday at noon.

Jr. High:

LCS Elite edged West Liberty 1 3-2.

Elite jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, but the Tigers came roaring back with two unanswered goals to tie the game.

With less than 5 minutes left in the game, Elite scored the go-ahead goal.

For LCS Elite, Ethan Pequignot, Nikolas Vance, and Xander Vance each scored a goal.

Cole Overbey, Nikolas Vance, and Pequignot each delivered an assist.

David Haley made numerous saves in goal and was selected as player of the week for his team.

For West Liberty 1, Aubrie Stillings scored off an assisted corner kick from Laine Godwin and Jacob VanHorn also scored.
