Updated: Jr. High Tigers run past Greeneview, Chiefs rally past Tecumseh; flag football begins

The West Liberty-Salem Junior High football team shut out Greeneview 22-0 Thursday.

Garrett Predmore had a fumble recovery for a touchdown, Braden Miller recorded two rushing touchdowns, and Levi Moell and Kody Thurman each scored on two point conversions.

The Bellefontaine 7th football team traveled to Tecumseh to finish a suspended game Thursday night after Tuesday's game was suspended due to lightning. The Chiefs rallied for an 18-12 victory.

The Chiefs were down 12-0 with one minute left in the first half when the Arrows decided to go for a fake up on 4th and 15 from their own 30-yard line.

The next play, after the turnover on downs, Jack Clement took a Major Stratton screen pass 25 yards at the end of the half to make it 12-6.

The Chiefs scored two more times on the same screen pass from Stratton to Clement with touchdowns of 45 and 50 yards.

The Chieftains defense stepped in the second half allowing one first down and shutting the Arrows out. The Chieftains were led on defense by strong play from Tremayne Wilson, D.J. McDonald, Major Stratton, and Quincy Hassel who sealed with the win with an interception with no time left.

Bellefontaine will have a short turnaround this week as they will be traveling to Mad River on Tuesday. Kickoff is 5:30.

In flag football, Team Black beat Team Orange 4-2 to start the season.

For Black, Jacob Griffith had a rushing TD and a receiving TD. Gabe McGill scored a rushing TD and Xander Waldren added a receiving TD. Dylan Wing tossed two TD passes.

For Orange, Peyton Hull and Josh Wilcoxon each had long rushing TDs.

Team Gray beat Team White 3-2 to start the season.

For Gray, Austin Olejniczak had two TD passes and a TD reception. James Powell had a TD pass and a TD reception. Eli Allen had a receiving TD and INT.

For White, Silas Kauffman had a TD reception, Cody Crawford had a rushing TD, and Lee Burkett added a TD pass and had an INT on defense.

Next Thursday at 6pm at Lions Park White takes on Orange and Gray takes on Black.
