Local athletes gearing up for Special Olympics State Summer Games

The names of the more than 2,500 athletes from throughout Ohio who will compete in Special Olympics Ohio’s 2013 State Summer Games have been announced. These athletes will be part of the largest Special Olympics event in Ohio. The 2013 State Summer Games will be held June 28-30, in Columbus.

The Games bring together athletes for competition in 11 sports: Aquatics, Athletics (track and field), Bocce, Bowling, Cycling, Gymnastics, Power Lifting, Roller Skating, Soccer, Tennis, and Volleyball.

Participating organizations, referred to as “local organizations,” are from public and private schools, county boards of developmental disabilities, developmental centers, parks and recreation groups, and parent-organized groups.
