Marino chosen to succeed Stokes at Urbana

Former Urbana standout Nick Marino (pictured) has been named the Hillclimbers next head football coach, pending board approval.

Marino was a four-year starter at Urbana. After graduating in 2007, he attended Wittenberg for two years and lettered in football.

Nick then transferred to Urbana University where he earned a bachelor's degree in integrated social studies.

Marino has been an assistant coach at Urbana High School for the last four years.

He served as defensive coordinator for the last three seasons. Under his leadership, the Hillclimbers gave up the fewest points in the CBC Mad River division each year.

Coach Marino teaches technology classes at Urbana Junior High School. He is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Urbana and is actively involved in the community.

The Urbana School Board is expected to approve the contract during their next regular meeting on June 20th at 6 p.m. in the board administration office.

Marino is replacing Geron Stokes, who is the new football coach at Minster.
