Olentangy sweeps doubleheader at Blue Jacket - Baseball scoreboard

The Bellefontaine varsity and JV baseball teams played Olentangy Liberty Saturday.

The varsity Chiefs hosted a doubleheader at Blue Jacket Park.

Olentangy Liberty won the first game 10-8.

Liberty led 6-5 after six innings, then scored four runs in their final at bat.

The Chiefs rallied and scored three times in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Starter Jarrod Houchin suffered the loss.

Drake Roebuck led the offense with two hits and two RBIs. Tyler Shamblin and Trent Nicholl each recorded two hits.

The Chiefs committed six errors.

Olentangy Liberty won the nightcap 9-6 in nine innings.

The Patriots took control by scoring four runs in the ninth inning off relief pitcher Tyler Shamblin.

Bellefontaine scored a run in their final at bat.

Shamblin was tagged with the loss.

Jarrod Houchin was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Trent Nicholl had two hits, including a double. Gauge Hayman added two hits.

The Chiefs are 13-7 overall. They will visit Dayton Stebbins on Monday.

The Bellefontaine Red JV team earned a split.

Olentangy Liberty won the first game 5-4 in eight innings.

Starter Kyle Brunner pitched very well. He gave up two earned runs and struck out nine in seven innings.

Joe Oliver suffered the loss after giving up a run in the eighth inning.

The Chiefs were held to five hits. Brunner and Lane Kiser each had an RBI.

BHS won the second game 9-8.

Lane Kiser went the distance, firing a six-hitter with two Ks.

Kiser and Xavier Brown each had a triple and three RBIs. Tyler Jones and Daniel Boy each belted a double.

The Chiefs are 15-2.
