Riverside wins non-league contest, Lady Pirates cap perfect league season; busy night in youth - Friday scorecard

A few high school teams and several youth clubs hit the diamond Friday night.

The Riverside varsity baseball team defeated visiting Botkins 4-1.

Starter Jake Herron worked five innings to earn the win.

Kenny Guthrie pitched the final two innings.

Dallas Daniels had two hits and an RBI, Dustin Proffitt recorded two hits, and Tanner Lane added a hit and drove in a run.

The Pirates are 15-8. They will travel to Troy Christian on Tuesday.

In varsity softball, Riverside handled host Lima Perry 12-0 to complete a perfect league season.

The Pirates started fast, scoring six runs in the first inning.

Christyn Wietholter tossed a four-hitter. She struck out six.

Taylor Nichols, Taylor Goings, and Abby Proffitt each had two RBIs.

The Pirates earned their first league title in four years. They went 5-0 in the NWCC and move to 15-7 overall.

Indian Lake blanked Graham 10-0 in five innings.

Tori Lones fired a no-hitter with eight Ks.

Leslie Reichert led the attack with two hits and three RBIs.

The Bellefontaine Area Church Softball League was in action Friday.

The first game was a forfeit.

In the second game, Quest Community Church defeated First Baptist Church of Urbana 25-3.


Huntsville #3 Dad's Towing defeated Belle Center #3 (no score reported).

Kolton Cummins was 3-for-3 with a home run, Sam Varian Jr. was 3-for-3 with two doubles, and Kahne Ferguson went 2-for-2 with a triple.

Three pitchers combined for 14 Ks in the win.

Coach Pitch:

Lakeview #1 Stanley's Asphalt Seal Coating ran past Quincy #1 26-3.

Gavin Lones was 5-for-5 with a pair of home runs. Landen Wisener had four hits, including two triples.

Eldon Stevens, Madden Lillard, Tommy Schmiedebusch, and Czar Dickson added hits.


Huntsville #2 Woody's Diner outscored West Mansfield #2 29-11.

Avery Pequignot, Tyler Tidwell, Christopher Timms, and Griffin Schaub belted home runs.

West Liberty #3 BOSS beat Lakeview #4 27-13.

Brevin Louden and Troy Bradley each had two home runs.

Silas Kauffman and Hayden Sanford each delivered a home run.

Brilee Joseph and Isaiah Reminder each had a triple and Carissa Cozad added a double.
