The Bellefontaine 6th grade girls’ basketball team finished the Tri-County regular season recently with a 9-1 record.
The Lady Chiefs earned a 2013 Tri-County League Co-Championship title shared with the West Jefferson Roughriders.
In Tri-County tournament action from this past weekend, the Lady Chiefs went 2-1 improving their overall record to 11-2.
In the quarterfinal round, the girls defeated Triad 34-18.
Anne West scored 17 points, Avery Moore grabbed 8 rebounds, Hara Brown took 7 steals, and Aubrey Stolly delivered 6 assists.
In the semifinal round, the Chiefs ran past Ridgemont 38-20.
Anne West tallied 22 points, Aubrey Stolly contributed 10 points, Hannah Rader recorded 10 rebounds, and Hara Brown added 8 steals.
In the championship game, Bellefontaine lost to West Jefferson 31-28.
Anne West totaled 22 points.
The 6th grade Lady Chiefs compete in the Triad Classic Saturday and Sunday. The Lady Chiefs play at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm in pool play Saturday at Triad High School.
The girls will start bracket play Sunday.
The Bellefontaine 6th grade Lady Chiefs are Harlee Anderson, Hara Brown, Jalen Brown, Kylie Forsythe, Avery Moore, Bailey Morales, Madison Payne, Hannah Rader, Aubrey Stolly, and Anne West. Coaches are Henry Stolly and Brad Rader.
