The Bellefontaine Lady Chiefs fell at Tipp City 62-50 Saturday night.
For Bellefontaine, Jazmyn Haley posted a double-double, scoring 24 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Brenda Johnson added 12 points.
The JV Chiefs also lost to the Red Devils 42-17.
Liz Martin led the Chiefs with 7 points.
The Lady Chiefs return to action Thursday at Graham for a make-up game.
Benjamin Logan knocked off Urbana 54-47.
Leading scorers for Lady Raiders were Jessica Yoder with 21 points, Ciarra Wirick with 10, and Domonique Johnson with 8.
The Raiders are now 12-7 and winners of 10 of their last 12 games.
The Lady Raiders JV team defeated Urbana 43-10.
Leading scorers for the JV were Holly Parker with 8 points, Sadie Inglin with 7, and Darrian Bricker with 6.
The Raiders next game is Saturday at Northwestern with a JV start at noon.
The West Liberty-Salem Lady Tigers used a strong final quarter to pull away for a 39-30 win over Cedarville.
Melany Ward scored 12 points in the win.
The Riverside varsity girls defeated host Bethel 41-26.
The Pirates ran out to a 24-10 halftime lead.
Mara Ledley had 11 points and Brooke Hickey added 10.
There was no JV game.
Riverside is 4-14 overall. They will host Indian Lake Monday night on WPKO.
Middle School girls
The eighth grade Lady Tigers opened tournament play, downing Springfield Catholic 50-9.
For the Tigers, Lily Yoder had 21 points, 2 assists, and 7 steals. Aiding in the offense were Mikalia McIntosh with 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists, and Jenna Magnuson added 5 points and 4 rebounds. Kianna Reams recorded 8 rebounds and 2 steals.
The Lady Tigers push their record to 14-2.
The seventh grade Lady Tigers also opened tournament action Saturday morning with a win, beating Mechanicsburg 42-12.
Jonni Parker had 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks, Aubrie Stillings recorded 6 points and 6 steals, Laine Godwin tallied 5 points and 2 assists, Taylor Lauck had 5 points, and Kenedie Cox and Julie Parker each recorded 4 points and 3 steals.
The Tigers move their record to 15-1.
Second round tournament game times will be announced Monday.
Middle School boys
The Riverside eighth grade fell to Jackson Center 39-32.
Kurt Waters had 15 points for the Pirates.
The Riverside seventh grade went to overtime before losing 46-41 to Jackson Center.
Caleb Stevens and Trey Lane each had 13 points and Jason Yoder had 9 points in the loss.
West Liberty-Salem continued stellar seasons at both Jr. High levels.
The eighth grade (11-2) defeated Springfield Catholic 46-30.
Brandon Wolfe scored 14 points, Luke Woods 12, and Trent Schmucker added 11 for the Tigers.
The seventh grade (12-1) also defeated visiting Springfield Catholic 40-23.
James Loffing led the Tigers with 19 points, Braden Miller scored 7, and Neil Markin added 5.
Both teams will be at home against South Vienna on Monday at 5:00pm.
Calvary Christian won their first round OCSAA (Ohio Christian Schools Athletic Association) tournament game against Ohio Valley Christian by a score of 43-29.
Parker Grothaus had 13 points and 13 rebounds. Josh Kilgore also scored 13 points for the Spartans. JC Patton hit a 3-pointer and Cole Kennedy added 2 points.
The seven-seed Spartans will travel to Columbus to take on the #2 seed Harambee Christian next week in a second round matchup. This is the first year the Spartans have belonged in the OCSAA and participated in the state tournament.
