Riverside powerlifters set several meet records

The Riverside powerlifting team competed at the Tri-Village High School powerlifting meet in New Madison on Saturday. Approximately 250 lifters from Ohio and Indiana competed.

For the Riverside girls:

Ashtyn Defibaugh took 1st place in the 115lbs class - 11th-12th grade. She also broke the meet record in the deadlift.

Taylor Goings took 2nd place in the 175lbs class 11th-12th grade.

Ashton Wooddell took 3rd place in the 135lbs class - 9th-10th grade.

Kelsey Barney took 4th place in the 175lbs class 9th-10th grade.

Alexa Klinger took 5th place in the 125lbs class - 9th-10th grade.

Bailey Leonard took 7th place in the 125lbs class - 9th-10th grade.

For the Riverside boys:

Mike Schaffer took 1st place in the 135lbs class - 11th-12th grade.

Kyle Place took 1st place in the 155lbs class - 11th-12th grade. Kyle also broke the meet record on his 3rd attempt and then broke his own record on his 4th attempt in the deadlift.

Zach Stewart took 1st place in the 225lbs class - 11th-12th grade. Zach also broke the meet record in the bench press.

Chris Cox took 1st place in the 175lbs class 11th-12. Chris also broke the deadlift meet record.

John Tully took 2nd place in the 195lbs class - 11th-12th grade.

Austin Glasgow took 3rd place in the 155lbs class 11th-12 grade. Austin also broke the meet record in the bench press.

Collin Harbour took 5th place in the 175lbs class 9th-10th grade.

Zach Ford and Greg Bryant did very well as 8th graders competing in the 9th-10th grade division.

The Riverside powerlifting team is coached by Scott Stewart.
