Third quarter surge lifts Chiefs past Marysville; Urbana shuts down Tigers in fourth – Tuesday basketball scoreboard (Audio included)

A strong 3rd quarter surge pushed the Bellefontaine varsity boys basketball team past visiting Marysville 62-55 Tuesday on 1390 WBLL.

BHS sophomore guard Tristin Tillman earned Steve Austin’s Auto Group Player of the Game honors, scoring a career-high 19 points. Classmates Jake Kennedy and Max Oyer each contributed 12 points.

Brett Wisner tossed in 10 points and Logan Mitchell tallied 9 points and 7 rebounds.

For Marysville, Logan Roston scored 18 points and Steven Romesburg added 13 points.

The Chiefs were down 34-25 at the half.

The Chiefs outscored the Monarchs 21-8 in the 3rd quarter to take a 46-42 lead. Bellefontaine never relinquished the lead.

Marysville falls to 4-8 and hosts Westland Friday.

The Chiefs improve to 7-5 and travel to league-leader Springfield Shawnee Friday on 1390 WBLL.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity boys and Urbana went head-to-head on 98.3 WPKO.

The Hillclimbers defeated the host Tigers 59-44.

For Urbana, Tristan Singer received Steve Austin’s Auto Group Player of the Game honors with 22 points. Joe Wright recorded 11 points and Nathan Mays contributed 10 points.

For West Liberty-Salem, Grant Burden tallied 18 points and Travis Mayse totaled 12 points.

It was a 6-point game after three quarters as Urbana led 44-38.

A strong Urbana 4th quarter proved too much for the Tigers to overcome, as the Hillclimbers outscored West Liberty-Salem 15-6.

Urbana improves to 8-3 and hosts Indian Lake Friday on 98.3 WPKO.

West Liberty-Salem falls to 10-4 and travels to Southeastern Friday.

The Urbana JV boys beat West Liberty-Salem 38-26.

Triad defeated host Riverside 50-40 to snap the Pirates three-game winning streak.

Grant Miller led Riverside with 10 points.

The JV Pirates outscored the Cardinals 56-48.

Jesse Kean poured in 26 points and Dakota Bollinger added 11.

Graham defeated Greenon 62-48. The Falcons lead the CBC Mad River at 4-0.

Tecumseh outscored Springfield 82-75. The Arrows are 11-2.

Springfield Shawnee handled Southeastern 63-38.

Dayton Stebbins lost to Miamisburg 59-42.

Jr. High:

The Bellefontaine 8th grade boys beat host Kenton 40-29.

Hayden Nease dropped in 11 points. Dawsin Tillman and Turner Scott each scored 9 points.

The Chiefs (8-2) will host Northridge Thursday.

The Bellefontaine 7th grade boys won at Kenton.

Spencer George scored 10 points, Trey Stahler tallied 8 points, Nick Lyons recorded 7 points, and Tommy Belser and Evan Smith each added 6 points.

The 7th grade Chiefs evened their record to 5-5.

The Bellefontaine 8th grade girls lost to Kenton 49-3.

Kassidy Sullivan scored 3 points.

The Bellefontaine 7th grade girls fell to Kenton 31-24.

Emily Mitchell scored 13 points, Zoe Price tallied 8 points, and Kaitlyn Baughman contributed 8 rebounds.

The 7th grade Lady Chiefs fall to 8-4 on the season.

The Bellefontaine junior high girls travel to Northridge Thursday.


The Bellefontaine 6th grade boys defeated West Liberty-Salem 33-19 in the Tri-County League Sunday.

Jack Clement scored 15 points, Aaron Malarkey had several assists, Tremayne Wilson led the team in rebounding, and Colby Henry sparked the defense.
