Former Benjamin Logan and Penn State great Nicole Fawcett (pictured) helped the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team defeat Brazil in five sets to capture the Pan American Cup on Friday.
Fawcett subbed in the first two opening set losses and then started the final three sets in the win.
Team USA rallied from a 9-7 deficit in the fifth set and scored the final five points for the 15-11 victory. It is the team’s first Pan American Cup gold medal since 2003. The win ensures them a spot in the 2013 World Grand Prix. The gold medal match took place in Juarez, Mexico.
