WL-S track teams start fast at district meet

The West Liberty-Salem girls track and field team is currently sitting 8th after day one of the Division III Southwest District Track and Field prelims at Piqua Stadium Tuesday.

The 4x800 relay team of Reghan Bieleski, Madison Bahan, Grace Adams, and Katelyn Stapleton placed third to qualify for next week's regional meet with a 10:04.43.

Qualifying for Saturday's finals were Addy Johnson in the 100 meter hurdles (18.54), Alex Burton 100 meter dash (13.50), Taylor Lauck 400 meter dash (1:02.51), and Lydia Moell in the 300 meter hurdles (48.57).

Because of storm delays, the sprint relays will be run as a final on Saturday with field events starting at 10:00 a.m. and running finals at 11:30 a.m.

The West Liberty-Salem boys track team competed in day one of the Division III district meet at Piqua on Tuesday.

Junior Konner Smith placed 4th in pole vault (12'6") to qualify for next week's regional meet in Troy.

The 4x800 relay team of Cade Clerico, Noah Smith, Isaac Smith, and Gavin Harrison also qualified for the regional meet with a 4th place run (8:46.40).

The finals for the district meet will be on Saturday at Piqua with the field events at 10:00 and running at 11:30.
