Lady Tigers down Greenon, busy night for Jr. High – Thursday basketball

Several area basketball teams were in action Thursday night.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity girls defeated Greenon 50-45.

Gabby Hollar had 16 points. Alex Burton added 11.

The Lady Tigers won the JV game 31-27. Hailee Davis posted 8 points.

The Calvary Christian Lady Spartans traveled to Columbus and faced off against PROBE Academy and came away with the 54-24 victory.

Calvary jumped out in the first quarter clicking on all cylinders, outscoring PROBE Academy 21-6 led by Katie Thompson’s 15 points.

Overall, Thompson recorded another double-double with 26 points and 15 rebounds. Elisha Carter added 19 points and 7 steals.

Calvary improves to 11-1 and with play Sidney Christian on Tuesday.

Several Jr. High teams were on the court Thursday night.

The Benjamin Logan 7th grade boys basketball team defeated Indian Lake 52-25.

Kam Allen led with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Jonas Hoffman added 9 points and 7 rebounds. Ian Schiederer helped out with 4 points, 3 assists, and 5 steals.

For Indian Lake, Gavin Lones had 7 points and 6 boards. Kaleb Schindewolf added 7 points.

Indian Lake won the 8th grade game 44-23.

Logan Evans had 16 points. Trenton Fulkerson scored 13 and had 5 assists. Easton Klauer and Jason Hudkins each chipped in 5 points.

For the Raiders, Austin McGowen and Nathan Harmon had 6 points each.

Kaden Arn had 10 rebounds.

The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade boys basketball team defeated Greenview 36-23.

The Tigers were led by Owen Johnson with 9 points, Will Motzko 8, Landon Stewart 6, and Carson King with 4 points.

The Tigers are 5-2 overall.

A.J. Kimball scored 7 points as the West Liberty Salem 7th grade boys basketball team fell to Greeneview 57 to 15.

The WL-S 7th grade girls won a 19-17 battle against Greeneview.

Caitlyn King led the way with 10 points. Delaney Wade chipped in 5 points.

WL-S 8th grade girls remain undefeated (8-0) with a 28-19 win at home against Greeneview.

Mandilyn Weaver led all scorers with 12 points. Aubrey Williams contributed 7 points.

The Lady Tigers travel to Greenon on Tuesday, January 16.

The Bellefontaine 8th grade boys basketball team beat Urbana 35 to 32.

Drey Carter lead all scorers with 22 points. Evan Baker added 5 points and Connor Gamble had 4.

The Chiefs are not back in action until Saturday, January 20th at home vs Tecumseh.

The 7th grade game recorded an Urbana win over Bellefontaine, 28-22.

The 7th grade Lady Chieftains lost a heartbreaker to Urbana on a last second three point shot. The final score was 15-12.

Morgan Johns led all scorers with 8 points. Aubrey Hudson added 3 in the loss.

The 8th grade Lady Chiefs lost to Urbana 33-22.

Katie Pool led the team with 6 points and Tayteum Vigansky chipped in 5 points.

Their next game is Saturday, January 20 at Tecumseh.
