Chiefs edge Celina in season opener - Friday boys basketball scoreboard

The Bellefontaine varsity boys basketball team beat visiting Celina 53-50 in the season opener Friday night.

The Chiefs trailed by 12 points in the first half.

BHS opened the second half with a 21-3 run, then withstood a late rally by the Bulldogs.

Senior Spencer George led all scorers with 21 points.

Jack Clement poured in 18 points.

Indian Lake fell at Kenton 66-59.

Senior Collin Coburn had 26 points.

The JV Lakers beat the Wildcats 31-25.

Chris Murphy and Ethan Parker each scored 10 points.

The Lakers will host Wapakoneta on Saturday.

The freshman game will tip at 3, the JV at 4:30, and the varsity starts at 6.

Triad handled Riverside 68-35 in the Benjamin Logan Tip-Off Classic.

The Cardinals drilled 15 three-pointers.

Briley Harlan had 25 points and teammate Hadley LeVan scored 24.

Lane Willoby paced the Pirates with 9 points.

North Union outscored Benjamin Logan 58-42.

Dalton Rockhold had 17 points for the Raiders.

Benjamin Logan will play Riverside in the consolation game Saturday at 6 p.m.

Triad will battle North Union in the championship game at 8 p.m.

Ada defeated Ridgemont 53-35.

Parkway ran past Waynesfield-Goshen 64-49.

Jackson Center beat host Lehman 48-39.

Russia routed Houston 66-31.

Botkins nipped Fairlawn 43-39.
