Spartans win back-to-back state titles in soccer

The Calvary Christian varsity soccer team repeated as OCSAA (Ohio Christian School Athletic Association) state champions over the weekend at Ohio Christian University.

On Friday, the Spartans defeated Mansfield Temple 4-1.

Tyler Reinhard scored twice.

Jon Salmonowicz and Josh Kilgore each added a goal.

The CCS back three of Noah LaBelle, Garrett Reinhard, and Mataya Penhorwood had excellent games.

The Spartans had 14 shots on goal.

Mansfield Temple tallied 3 shots on goal.

In the championship game, Calvary Christian beat Mars Hill Academy (from Mason) 5-1 on Saturday.

Tyler Reinhard recorded a hat trick.

Josh Kilgore and Andrew Reinhard each scored a goal.

CCS had statistical advantages over Mars Hill in shots on goal (12-4) and corner kicks (7-3).

The 19-0 record through the OCSAA playoffs is the best record in program history.

The senior group of Garrett Criner, Tyler Reinhard, Andrew Reinhard, Daniel Wilt, Jon Salmonowicz, and Sam Jackson leave CCS with a career record of 61-4-1. Their career records also include a 2015 runner-up finish and back-to-back OCSAA championships.
