Updated: Jr. Raiders finish runner-up in league tournament – Saturday volleyball

The Lady Raiders won the first round against the Northridge Cougars in 3 sets: 23-25, 25-15, and 25-8.

Jennifer Naragon, Jordan Sexstone, and Lauren Dixon each had 4 aces. Mackenzie Peterson and Lily Makin each served 2 aces. Haleigh Brentlinger and Lynzee Cronkleton each added 1 ace.

The Lady Raiders recorded 23 kills.

Jordan Sexstone had 6 kills. Lynzee Cronkleton and Haleigh Brentlinger each blasted 5 kills. Lily Makin recorded 4 kills. Makenna LeVan delivered 2 kills and Jennifer Naragon added 1 kill.

Cronkleton had 4 solo blocks and Makin added 2 solo blocks.

The Lady Raiders then moved on to the the finals and fell to Jonathan Alder in 2 sets to take runner-up in the league tourney.

Benjamin Logan finished their season 19-3.

The Benjamin Logan 7th grade team beat Urbana in the semifinals in 3 sets: 16-25, 25-12, and 25-13.

Jillian Plikerd had 8 aces. Lily Blackburn, Kiley Daniels, and Macy Matthews each recorded 3 aces. Elliott Bailey and Brielle Moorhouse each served an ace.

Jillian Plikerd and Lily Blackburn each had 3 kills. Elliott Bailey and Libby Hayes recorded 2 kills apiece. Macy Matthews added a kill and a block.

The Lady Raiders then lost to Jonathan Alder in the championship game in 2 sets: 19-25 and 14-25.

Lily Blackburn served 3 aces. Macy Matthews and Brielle Moorhouse each recorded 2 aces. Jillian Plikerd served an ace.

Elliott Bailey, Brielle Moorhouse, and Jillian Plikerd each had 2 kills. Lily Blackburn, Rhea Harner, and Libby Hayes each added a kill.

Benjamin Logan finished the season 19-3 and runner-up in the CBC.

Both Riverside Jr. High teams made it through the first round of the NWCC league tournament at home on Saturday.

The 7th grade Lady Pirates swept Marion Elgin 25-10 and 25-12.

Alaina Snow had 4 aces, 2 kills, 5 assists, and a block. Jade Copas recorded 6 aces, 5 kills, and 2 blocks. Rachel Knight tallied 2 aces and 2 kills.

The Riverside 8th grade beat Waynesfield-Goshen 25-19 and 25-22.

Jenna Woods had 6 kills, 2 blocks, and 1 dig. Kirstin Schlumbohm tallied 4 aces, 2 kills, and 4 assists. Olivia Perk had 6 aces and 5 assists.

The 8th grade will play Lehman this week.

The 7th grade will face Lima Perry.
