Franks completes track season at Nationals

Dustin FranksDustin Franks, an Indian Lake Athlete, competed last week in the National Junior Olympics in Kansas.

At opening ceremonies, Franks was given the honor of representing the Junior Olympic Region 5 by carrying their sign out onto the field.

There were over 10,000 athletes participating in all age groups and events.

There were 80 athletes that qualified nationally in his events.

In his first time competing at the national level, Franks finished strong and moved up in the national rankings to 42nd in the long jump, 48th in the high jump, and 51st in the 110 hurdles.

Throughout the season, he competed in a total of 14 track meets.

He closes the season having earned a total of 20 first place medals, 10 second place medals, 4 third place medals, and 6 fourth place ribbons.

Franks also broke the 200M Hurdles Record for Indian Lake Middle School and earned medals at the Ohio State MS Championship with 1st in High Jump, 1st in 110m hurdles, and 2nd in Long Jump.

Franks will be a freshman this year.

He plans on getting an early start on next year's season by competing at indoor track and field competitions.
