Day 2 good for Graham, Mechanicsburg at state wrestling meet

Friday was another good day for wrestlers from Graham and Mechanicsburg at the state wrestling meet at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus.

The Graham Falcons all but wrapped up their 17th straight Div. II state wrestling championship sending 7 wrestlers to the finals on Saturday.

Advancing were Jordan Crace (120), Mitch Moore (132), J.D. Stickley (138), Rocky Jordan (152), Ryan Thomas (160), Gage Braun (182), and Kavan Sarver (195).

Graham had 185.5 points through Friday evening.

In Div. III Mechanicsburg seemed poised to win a team title leading Genoa Area after Friday 97.5 to 80 points.

Four wrestlers advanced to the finals for the Indians. They were Kaleb Romero at 170 pounds, Colt Yinger at 152, along with Tanner Smith (145) and Alex Rhine (132).

Still alive in the consolation bracket were Graham's Tanner Jordan (106) and Jeffrey Thomas (126).

Tyler Wetzel remains alive for Mechanicsburg.

Those ending fine years included the Indians Dylan Hartley (285) and Corey Bogan (160), Graham's Johnny Shafer at 220, and Triad's Zach Zizzo bowed out on Friday.

The state wrestling championships continue Saturday.
