Updated: Pirates fall to Ansonia, Calvary dunks Sidney Christian – Saturday basketball recap

In basketball from Saturday, the Riverside varsity boys fell at Ansonia 66-56.

Kyle Knight scored 15 points. Trey Helmlinger had 13 points. Hunter Kreglow added 12.

The JV Pirates lost to Ansonia 40-30.

Trae Wilgus tossed in 12 points. Wyatt Auflick scored 8.

The Triad varsity boys fell to Fort Recovery 51-42.

Hadley Levan led the Cardinals with 18 points.

Triad is 8-12. Fort Recovery is 12-8.

The JV Cardinals lost 46-7.

Triad will visit West Liberty-Salem on Friday.

The Calvary Christian varsity boys ran past Sidney Christian 98-41 at Union Station.

Blake Wenger was honored on Senior Night.

Grant Criner recorded a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds.

Josh Kilgore tossed in 20 points.

The sophomore has over 500 career points.

Daniel Wilt poured in 18 points.

The Spartans shot 52 percent.

Calvary Christian has won ten in a row to improve to 16-2 overall and 9-1 in the league.

They will travel to Northside Christian on Tuesday.

The Calvary Christian varsity girls celebrated their seniors, Keri Howard and Amanda Koon, with a 65-27 win over ICSO opponent Sidney Christian.

Elisha Carter had a game-high 21 points.

Katie Thompson had her 8th double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Calvary is now 11-7 overall and 4-2 in league play.

They will face Northside Christian on Tuesday.

Jr. High finals:

The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade boys lost to Fairbanks 34-28 in the OHC championship game.

Nick Burden had 12 points, Jace Wade scored 8, and Lance Baldwin added 4 points.

The Tigers finished the season 12-5 overall and 12-3 in the OHC.

The Benjamin Logan 7th grade boys team defeated Northwestern 36-33 in the first round of the CBC tournament.

Kaden Arn led all scorers with 14 points.

Austin McGowan tallied 8 points and 6 rebounds.

Jase Stathas added 7 points and 7 rebounds.

The Raiders will travel to Springfield Shawnee on Monday for their second round game.

The Bellefontaine 7th grade boys lost to Urbana 29-26.

Drey Carter had 14 points and Liam Harris 8 for the Chieftains.

Riverside opened NWCC tournament play on Saturday.

The 7th grade boys fell to Lehman 42-29.

Zach Armbruster had 8 points.

Brody Rhoads tossed in 7 points.

Andrew Thacker and Andan Short each scored 5 points.

Jayden Burchett and Dylan Smith each added 2 points.

The 8th grade Pirates ran past Lima Temple Christian 70-17.
