Raiders drop first match; Peterson leads WLS past Bellefontaine

The Benjamin Logan varsity volleyball team fell to visiting Ada on Monday evening.

The Raiders lost in four sets 17-25, 25-21, 24-26, 19-25. The Raiders fall to 3-1 on the season.

The Raiders were sparked by Katie Bisel's 17 kills and 7 blocks. Bri Frazier, Darien King, and Coreen Crosby each added 7 kills and were in on 10 blocks combined. Tayler Rose and Betsy King each dished out 19 assists. Jessica Sosby had a team-high 13 points and 15 digs.

The JV Raiders lost to Ada in two sets.

Natalie Drumm recorded 6 kills and 7 digs. Aundria Sheeley added 5 digs, 1 block, and 1 kill.  Allie Wilson dished out 9 assists.

The JV team is 1-3.

The freshmen Raiders lost to the Bulldogs in two sets.

Madison Jones recorded 5 assists, McKinzie Jones added 5 digs, and Avery Braun was strong at the net with 5 assisted blocks.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity team beat host Bellefontaine in four sets 25-15, 25-22, 22-25, 25-15.

Jamie Peterson had 28 kills and 12 digs, Kylie Gilroy tallied 40 assists, Kylee Hormann recorded 8 kills and 11 digs, Rachel Ritter had 4 aces and 14 digs, and Taylor LeVan added 8 kills and 4 aces.

For Bellefontaine, Kenzie Brunswick had 14 kills and 13 digs, Savannah Bryson had 30 assists, Georgia Cooper blasted 8 kills, and Kassidi Sullivan recorded 13 digs.

The JV Chiefs beat the Tigers 25-23, 24-26, and 25-14.

Taylor Hodge delivered 3 aces and 18 assists, Caitlin Hollar had 17 digs, and Violet Martin added 9 digs.

The freshman Chiefs fell to Jackson Center 23-25, 17-25.

Madyson Stratton had 4 kills, Madison Aldo was 6-for-6 serving, and Lindsey Stevenson was 9-for-11 on serve receive.

The junior high West Liberty-Salem volleyball teams hosted Mechanicsburg Monday night. The seventh grade won in two 25-16, 25-18. Kennah Erwin had 12 points with 8 aces. Sydnee Payer had 7 points with 5 aces. Kaylah Erwin had 7 points with 4 aces and Alex Burton had 5 points with 3 aces.

The eighth grade lost in 3, 22-25, 25-18, 21-25. Tyanna Seibert had 13 points with 5 aces and 9 assists. Kelsey Day had 7 points with 5 aces and 3 kills. Hallie Strapp had 6 points with 5 aces and 4 kills. Breann Koons had 5 points and 5 kills.

The Benjamin Logan seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams had a tough time against visiting Northridge Monday night. The 7th grade lost in 2 sets 6-25, 9-25.

The 8th grade lost in 2 sets to the Cougars 10-25, 18-25. Sydney Kossel had an ace, 2 kills, and an assist. Sarah VanDyke had an ace and 3 kills.

The Bellefontaine 7th grade outlasted Urbana 25-15, 24-26, and 25-18.

Hannah Rader had 13 points and Caitlyn Shumaker added 11 points.

Kamryn Mathys led the offense in setting.

The Bellefontaine 8th grade fell to Urbana 12-25, 10-25.

Anya Nunez and Macie Schaffer played strong defense.

Jalen Brown opened the match with 7 straight points.

The Chiefs will host Benjamin Logan on Wednesday.
