Two local athletes placed at the state indoor track and field meet Saturday at the University of Akron.
Bellefontaine junior Brenda Johnson placed third in shot put with a throw of 40’ 2.5”.
Last spring, Johnson won the regional title with a throw of 41' 1 1/4" at Dayton's Welcome Stadium.
She became the first girl in school history to win the regional championship in shot put.
Johnson also won the district title with a throw of 41' 6".
At the state meet, Johnson scored a 6th place. She set a new school record at 41'10.75".
West Liberty-Salem standout Taylor Cordell placed 9th in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.55 seconds.
