Bellefontaine’s Emily Fulmer set a school record in the 100-meter freestyle when the Chieftain swim team competed in the Shawnee Invitational at Wittenberg University Saturday.
Fulmer completed the 100 meters in 57.82 seconds, slashing the old record of 58.31 seconds by just under one-half second.
The girls team finished fourth out of 17 teams in the Invitational, while the boys came in ninth.
Fulmer led the Chieftain girls with a total of 18.5 points. Molly Schulz had 13.5 points and Jessica Miller and Emma Smith each had 9.5 points for Bellefontaine.
For the boys, Isaiah Brady had 10.5 points, Adam Verbsky had 4.5 points, and Cayden DeMent and Josh Robbins each had 1.5 points for the Chieftains.
The Chiefs were scheduled to compete in a tri-meet Sunday against Indian Lake and host Sidney. The meet was cancelled because of the weekend storm.
