Sonia M. Devine, 92, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 5:20 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Logan Acres Care Center. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 10, 1920 to the late Alex and Nage Wazevich. On June 14, 1941 she married Donald Edward Devine and he preceded her in death on February 15, 1990.
She is survived by her son Michael Devine of Bellefontaine; three grandchildren, Michael Devine II and Donald T. (Michelle) Devine, both of Russells Point, and Tiffany Devine of Bellefontaine; eight grandchildren, Michael Devine III, Amber Frantz, Shawna Devine, Damon Devine, Trenton Devine, Bethany Cruce, Carissa Devine, and Diana Devine; a great-great granddaughter Kodi Frantz; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose and Mary; and three brothers, William, Michael, and George.
Sonia had worked as a proofreader at Merchants and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. An avid bowler, she continued to bowl into her early 90’s and was inducted into the TP Lanes Bellefontaine Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1995. She also enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.
A mass of Christian burial will be conducted by Father Patrick Sheridan Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Bellefontaine. A mercy meal will be held at Makley Hall following the burial.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
