Richard B. “Dick” Ritter

Richard B. “Dick” Ritter, 77, of Wellington, Florida, and formerly of Worthington, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017, in West Palm Beach, Florida, following a lengthy illness of Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsonism. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio, on April 5, 1940, to the late Gilbert B. and Elizabeth “Teetsie” Ritter.

On January 22, 1977, Dick was married to the former Susan Clapper at the Grace Brethren Church of Worthington by Pastor James L. Custer. She survives him along with daughter Tracy (Drew) Rehfuss of Carrollton, Texas, and step-daughter Jennifer (Brad) Neiheisel of Wellington, Florida; grandchildren Amber, Chad, Jacob, and Luke Rehfuss; brothers Jerome (Joanne) Ritter of Bellefontaine, and Jack (Carol) Ritter of Lancaster, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Virginia “Jini” and James Dee.

Dick was a graduate of Bellefontaine High School and Miami University, where he received his Bachelor of Architecture. Through the following years, he worked at Brubaker/Brandt, Inc., Phillip Markwood Architects, and even had the privilege of being on his own for close to a decade as Richard B. Ritter Architect in Worthington. Dick loved the Lord; his wife, family, and friends; architecture, golf, sailing, reading, playing bridge, and leading Bible studies.

Pastor James L. Custer will officiate a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine, where visitation will be prior to the funeral from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Bellefontaine Cemetery, Bellefontaine, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dick’s memory to Trustbridge Hospice Foundation, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida 33407.

Funeral arrangements are in care of Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine, and online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.edsfh.com.
