Carole E. Wagner

Carole E. Wagner, 77, of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, in Mary Rutan Hospital.

She was born in San Diego, CA, on April 19, 1940, the daughter of the late Carroll Peyton and Berenice E. (Harris) Jackson.

She married David E. Wagner on August 19, 1967, in the Zanesfield United Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death on October 18, 2015.

She is survived by her sister, Dee Dee (Ron) Ricketts of Zanesfield, a sister in law, Janet Wagner of Maine, two nephews; Matt (Kim) Ricketts of Centerville and Keith Wagner of California, five nieces; Beth (Doug) Lantz of Bellefontaine, Amy Ricketts of Zanesfield, Marcie Lawhon, Melinda Lloyd, and Tess (Simon) Rhodes, all of Maine, a great niece, Brittany Lantz of West Chester and a great nephew, Blake Lantz of Columbus and several cousins and many friends.

Carole was a 1958 graduate of Zanesfield Monroe High School and went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree from Capital University in Columbus. She was a long-time member of the Zanesfield United Methodist Church, where she played the organ for as long as her health would allow. She was the past president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Zanesfield Post 599 and then later a member of the Harold Kerr Post 173 in Bellefontaine. She along with her late husband, David volunteered many years at the Logan County History Center. She taught in the Columbus City Schools before she was married and in later years went on to teach in the Benjamin Logan School District until her retirement.

Pastor Scott Miller will officiate a celebration of life memorial service on Monday, August 7, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in the Zanesfield United Methodist Church, 2880 Main St. Zanesfield, OH. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial of her cremated remains will be in Zanesfield Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to Zanesfield United Methodist Church or to the Logan County History Center, 521 E. Columbus Ave. Bellefontaine.
