Helen L. Klopfenstein, 88, of Findlay and formerly of Jackson Center, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 in The Heritage in Findlay.
She was born in Logan County on December 12, 1928, the daughter of the late Donie and Maple (Stewart) Herring.
On June 20, 1948 in Beehive Church near Maplewood, she married Karl E. Klopfenstein and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2007. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jerome Craig Klopfenstein, a grandson, Jerome “Jerry” Hicks, a son in law, Clarke Hicks and eight sisters and one brother.
She is survived by her daughter, Debby Hicks of Findlay, two grandchildren; Kerri (Alex Jr.) Arredondo of Findlay, and Nikki Hicks of Bellefontaine, three great-grandchildren; Mahailia Adams, Jerome Smith, Teia Hicks, and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was a long-time member of the Muchinippi Church and had worked at Stolle Manufacturing in Sidney, but more recently at the McDonald’s at Indian Lake. In her younger years, she enjoyed roller skating and met her husband at the Indian Lake Roller Arena. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning, and baking.
Pastor Ed Shady will officiate a funeral service on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Muchinippi Church at the corner of St. Rt. 274 and County Road 21, Logan County. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Muchinippi Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
