Jack L. Godwin, 86, of Bellefontaine, OH passed away Saturday morning, June 21, 2014 at The OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, OH.
Jack was born on March 7, 1928 in Huntsville, OH to the late Jacob L. & Erma Neal Godwin. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Max Godwin and Carl Godwin.
In 1955, he married the former June Conklin and she survives along with two sons, Jeffrey L. (Paula) Godwin of Heltonville, IN, and John P. Godwin of Harpers Ferry, WV, three grandchildren, Abigail, Josiah, and Jedidiah, a brother, Wayne (Velva) Godwin of Bellefontaine, a sister-in-law, Norma Godwin of Belle Center, OH and several nieces and nephews.
Jack was a 1946 graduate of Huntsville High School. He was a United States Army veteran serving in Korea from 1950-1952. Jack retired from the Logan County Highway Department in 1985. He later worked for the Ohio State Patrol and AcuSport Corp in Bellefontaine. He enjoyed working around the house, especially yard work and gardening.
Per Mr. Godwin’s wishes, his body was cremated. Reverend Jonathan Bull will begin graveside services in Huntsville Cemetery at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 28, 2014. Military honors will be performed by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
