Carlyle C. Davis, 90, of rural Bellefontaine, passed peacefully to his heavenly home at 8:05AM on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at the home of his daughter, Jeanette, in Columbus, Ohio, with his daughters, Jeanette and Christine, at his side.
He was born on March 19, 1923, near DeGraff, Ohio, the son of the late Ottis Henson Davis and Edna (Keysor) Davis. He married Nelva McIntosh on December 22, 1951, who preceded him in death on September 6, 2011. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Rose Cutchen.
Survivors include his beloved children, Christine (Doyle) Hartman of Delaware, Christopher (Valerie) Davis of West Mansfield, Jeanette Davis of Columbus and Daniel (Carol) Davis of Brownstown, PA; grandchildren, Janelle, Jason and Ryan Hartman and Elizabeth, Catherine, AhnaMarie and Abigail Davis; nephew, Larry Graham and other nieces and nephews; and several cousins, including Betty Park Bishop and Koneta Swink Campbell.
Carlyle graduated in 1941 from Blume High School in Wapakoneta, OH. He retired from Siemens in 1985 after 34 years of service.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served at Camp McCoy in Wisconsin as a meat and dairy inspector. He was a former member of West Mansfield Friends and Bellefontaine First Friends Churches and in recent years attended the Zanesfield Community Chapel.
Visitation is from 6-8 pm at the Zanesfield Community Chapel, 4754 Co. Rd. 10, Zanesfield, on Friday, January 31, 2014. Pastor Keith Matthews will officiate an 11 am service on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the church where visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the York Cemetery, York Center, Ohio.
