Eva Jeanne “Eddie” Sorreles

Eva Jeanne “Eddie” Sorreles, 76, of Bellefontaine, formerly of Lakeview, OH, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at OSU Medical Center, Columbus, OH.

Jeanne was born on April 20, 1937 in Floyd County, KY to the late William G. & Fannie Bailey Stephens. On April 22, 1956, she married George W. Sorreles, Sr. and he preceded her in death on April 12, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly, and five brothers, Junior, Mark, Ollie, Kurt, and Hayward Stephens.

She is survived by two sons, Tim (Davelyn) Sorreles of Clarksville, TN, and George W. “Butch” (Karen) Sorreles, Jr. of Bellefontaine, five grandchildren, Niki Sorreles, Kaysee DeLong, Rachael (Andy) Cearly, Hannah (Clay) Miller, and Shawn Moreland, seven great grandchildren, Graycen Sorreles, Jakob, Zachary, Benjamin and Amelia Mae Cearly, Caleb and Madeline Miller, six siblings, Lou Fout, Bobbi Hare, Angie (Dick) Tracy, Bud (Sondra) Stephens, Mike (Jackie) Stephens, all of Kenton, OH, and Geneva (Ralph) Hedrick of Mansfield, OH, and many nieces and nephews.

Jeanne was a 1955 graduate of Kenton High School. She worked as a librarian for many years at New Bloomington Elementary School and Lakeview Library. She had been a volunteer EMT with Indian Lake EMS. She was a former member of Indian Lake Moose and Indian Lake Eagles. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, and growing roses. She was a writer and published a number of short stories. Her greatest enjoyment was being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always had interesting activities to do, one of her favorites was baking with them at Christmas.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview. Visitation is Friday, January 10th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.

Contributions may be given in her name to Marine Toys For Tots Foundation or American Cancer Society.
