Lyla June DeLong, 89, of Lewistown, OH, passed away Saturday morning, November 9, 2013, at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine, OH.
June was born on October 11, 1924 in Belle Center, OH to the late Wilbur & Hazel Neal Spurgeon. On May 30, 1946, she married James E. DeLong in Belle Center and he preceded her in death in 1982. She was also preceded in death by a son, James A. DeLong on December 19, 2010.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane (Alfred) Park of West Liberty, OH, and Joyce (David) Branson of Bellefontaine, six granddaughters, Shellie Erwin, Nikki Legge, Tiff Epps, Jami Epps, Stacey DeLong, and Lucy LeVan, 16 great grandchildren, Brittnee, Garret, Gage, Jameson, Drew, Aubrie, Ashley, Jake, Reese, Carter, Luke, Jazmyn, Dylan, Jahkya, Jaydaka, and Jazander, and two great-great grandsons, Sawyer, and Stephen.
June was retired from Indian Lake High School, were she worked in the cafeteria for 23 years. She enjoyed feeding and watching her birds, especially the hummingbirds and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A woman who touched many lives, she was loved by all that met her and will be missed by many.
Reverend Bryan Meadows will conduct a funeral service at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Huntsville United Methodist Church, with visitation from 10-12. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given in her name to the Quilt Ministry, c/o Huntsville United Methodist Church.
