Alice P. Hayes, 81, of Lakeview, OH left this life Sunday afternoon, November 3, 2013 at Green Hills Care Center, West Liberty, OH.
Alice was born on July 22, 1932 in Cleveland, OH to the late Phenici & Amy Leeds Dickerson. She married Raymond Grumbling on October 21, 1950 and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald D. Grumbling.
On November 11, 1980, she married Richard “Dick” Hayes and he survives. She is also survived by two daughters, Beth Tweed of Lancaster, CA, and Ruth Skrletts of Marietta, GA, three sons, Raymond D. Grumbling, Jr. of Powell, OH, Richard D. Grumbling of Arizona, and Robert D. (Brenda) Grumbling, Sr. of Russells Point, OH, 17 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren.
Alice was a 1950 graduate of North Royalton High School. She owned and operated Grumbling’s Channel Light Inn for 15 years and retired from Logan Acres were she worked in the office. She was a member of Grace Chapel Christian Union in Santa Fe, OH, where she and Dick celebrated their 25th anniversary with her daughters and sons standing on their behalf. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, cooking and when she was younger, golfing. Her greatest joy was being with her family and doing things for them.
Pastor Scott Anderson will conduct funeral services at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 8, 2013 at Grace Chapel Christian Union Church. Visitation is Thursday, November 7th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview and one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Burial is in Dayton National Cemetery at 2:00 pm, Friday.
Memorial contribution may be given in Alice’s name to Senior Independence Hospice.
