Mary Teresa Stevens, 78, of Bellefontaine, passed away Thursday afternoon, August 29, 2013 at Mary Rutan Hospital. She was born in Bellefontaine on November 5, 1934, to the late Edward M. and Odilla F. (Dapore) Thobe. She was also preceded by a son William E. Stevens, brothers William and Frank Thobe, and a great-granddaughter Hatie Stevens in 2002. She married Omar Ray Stevens in 1957 in Bellefontaine. They later divorced and he preceded her in death in 2001.
Mary was a 1955 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary where she was the chaplain. She was also a member of the Tri-County Seniors – Group #2. Mary enjoyed her cats, crocheting, working on her puzzle books, and watching the Game Show Network. She also loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Mary is survived by her children: Teresa (Charles) Cunningham of Bellefontaine, Ray E. (Francis) Stevens of Bellefontaine, Robert D. Stevens of Huntsville, Mark W. (Paula) Stevens of West Mansfield, and John A. (Cheri) Stevens of Bellefontaine; a daughter-in-law Sandy Stevens of Indiana; 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; a brother Lawrence J. (Florence) Thobe of Bellefontaine, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 11 am at Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine with Pastor Bill Riley officiating.
