George C. Forsythe Sr., 75, of East Liberty, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at his residence.
He was born on November 8, 1937 in East Liberty, OH to the late Walter and Bertha (Peter) Forsythe. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Forsythe.
On December 29, 1981 he married the former Jeanne Sheeley in Bellefontaine and she survives. Also surviving is a son, George C. Forsythe Jr. of Russells Point, John (Anne) Forsythe of Bellefontaine and Michael Forsythe of Columbus; his brother, Lloyd (Betty) Forsythe of East Liberty; and six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
After 45 years, George retired from the railroad where he worked as a conductor and a brakeman. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine where he served as an Elder Emeritus. He was a member of the East Liberty Masonic Lodge #247, the Shriners, the Indian Lake Moose, and the Bellefontaine Friendly Senior Center. He enjoyed the game of euchre, playing in several tournaments, and also enjoyed bowling, where he served as the secretary for the church league for 27 years. George was an organist and an accomplished musician who played instruments by ear.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine where friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. A Masonic Service will be held at 8:00 pm following visitation. Burial will be in the East Liberty Cemetery.
