Three local residents were charged after a deputy on patrol witnessed a vehicle speeding near Bellefontaine Thursday afternoon around 4:50.
The Logan County Sheriff's Office reports that the deputy was northbound on County Road 130 near Township Road 218 when he saw a southbound car driving at a high rate of speed.
The deputy turned around and tried to initiate a traffic stop.
The car was found moments later parked on Limestone Street near Garfield Avenue in the city.
Daniel Sprague, 24, of 816 Heritage Court, Apt. 11, Bellefontaine, was standing near the vehicle.
Initially, Sprague denied being in the car. He eventually admitted that he was riding in the car.
Sprague was charged with obstructing official business. He was also arrested on a warrant from the Bellefontaine Police Department and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
The car is owned by Calvin Board, 25, of 214 Pratt Street, Apt. 9, Bellefontaine.
Deputies responded to his residence.
When Board opened the door, authorities smelled burnt marijuana.
Board was issued a summons for possession of marijuana.
The driver, Kaleigh Garrison, 19, of 54 Holiday Harbor, Russells Point, was inside Board's home.
She was cited for speed and reckless operation.
