Passenger injured in weekend wreck

A local driver and his wife were injured in a one-vehicle accident near Lewistown at the intersection of County Road 61 and State Route 274 Saturday night around 11:30.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office reports that Donald Shirk, 70, of 11285 Wilderness Way, Belle Center, was driving a 2009 Nissan Altima northbound on 61 when he went through the intersection of 274, then struck the ditch.

Shirk had minor injuries, but he was not transported.

His wife, Joyce, 69, was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital by Indian Lake EMS.

Mr. Shirk was cited for a stop sign violation and failure to control.

His car suffered moderate damage.
