A Wapakoneta man was indicted Monday on several felony sex charges following an alleged relationship with a 15-year-old boy.
The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office responded Sunday morning when the victim’s family noticed he was not home.
While searching for the teen, the family found the boy’s iPad and discovered a conversation between the teen and 37-year-old Shane Hardin. The two agreed to meet at the Country Hearth Inn & Suites in Urbana.
The boy was returned home in a vehicle Sunday night. Family members wrote down the license number and deputies were able to locate Hardin.
Mr. Hardin voluntarily went to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies believe there was sexual contact between the two.
Hardin was arrested Sunday night and lodged in the Tri-County Jail.
On Monday, he was indicted on two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and one count of importuning.
