West Liberty Council approved two resolutions Monday that will place a renewal levy on the November ballot.
The renewal is for a 2.5 mills property tax that has been around for about 50 years.
Fire Chief John Esch announced that he will be retiring on September 1st. Esch has been the fire chief since 1999. He began his firefighting career in 1972.
Esch also reported that the fire department has recommended Assistant Fire Chief Conrad Hostetler to take the position of Fire Chief. Hostetler has over 30 years of experience with the department.
Esch discusses his choice to retire and the department's future.
Clerk Cindee Boyd is working to set up a time with Michelle Jordan of the Cleveland Collection Agency to come in and answer residents’ questions about how to fill out the income tax paperwork. The income tax will begin to be collected on July 1st.
A date for that meeting will be announced at a later time.
