Three local residents were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Route 68 south of Bellefontaine Friday afternoon around 1:45.
The Marysville Post of the State Highway Patrol reports that Charity Cordell, 26, of 220 Lawrence Street, Bellefontaine, was driving a 2001 PT Cruiser northbound on 68 waiting to make a left turn into a private drive when her vehicle was rear-ended by a 2006 Buick LaCrosse operated by Mary Powell, 83, of 115 South Street, West Liberty.
Cordell had minor injuries, but she was not transported.
Mrs. Powell was taken to Mary Rutan Hospital by Bellefontaine Fire and EMS.
Powell's husband, Donald, 88, was riding with her. He suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
The collision happened in the 2900 block of Route 68, just north of Township Road 199 West.
Mrs. Powell was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged.
The Macochee Joint Ambulance District EMS assisted at the scene.
