The United Way of Logan County Youth Allocation Committee (pictured) has been recognized for their contributions to our community.
The group of 20 juniors and seniors from our five local schools met several times throughout the school year to decide how and where to place their available funds.
The students were led by United Way volunteers Heidi Reser and Kim Collum.
The criteria and areas to be considered for this year’s program were:
- Drug Awareness
- Food & Hunger
- Teen Pregnancy
- Safe Driving
- Domestic Violence
After several meetings, the committee made a decision to award their $5,800 to support programs being offered by the following agencies in Logan County.
- Lutheran Community Services/Our Daily Bread
- Tecumseh Council, Boy Scouts of America – Logan County
- Mary Rutan Hospital
- Don M. & Margaret Hilliker YMCA
- Chippewa Neighborhood Outreach Center
- Western Neighborhood Outreach Center
- Consolidated Care
- First United Presbyterian Church
In recognition of their efforts the students were honored at an appreciation luncheon at Chattan Loch on Thursday. They were joined by their parents, school leaders, and the United Way board and staff.
