The Indian Lake Board of Education conducted their monthly meeting Tuesday night.
Highlighting the meeting was the update of the February 4th bus accident on Township Road 88 near Lakeview. Superintendent Pat O’Donnell disclosed the following information as a result of the accident:
--The seven-year old bus was totaled. Insurance has provided funding to purchase a replacement at no cost to the district.
--No serious injuries occurred. All 42 people on the bus were transported to Mary Rutan Hospital and treated for various minor injuries. Nobody required overnight care.
--Mr. O’Donnell thanked all district administrators but singled out elementary co-principals Jeff Reprogle and Molly Hall for their efforts with contacting parents and providing support at the hospital.
--The driver, Terrassa Titus-Cline resigned her position, effective February 19th.
--Mr. O’Donnell commended Mary Rutan Hospital for the excellent service and care that they provided on that day.
In other news, the board approved the revision of the high school art club’s purpose statement. The club will now have membership in the National Art Society Chapter.
The calendar for the 2013-14 school year was approved. The first day for teachers will be August 19th. Students will start August 21st.
Bidding has begun for the purchase of one or more school buses in addition to the one that was lost in the February 4th accident.
