Bellefontaine High School's DECA is very busy this month. DECA is a club for students taking Marketing 1 or Marketing 2.

Mrs. Rychener, marketing teacher at BHS, is the DECA advisor.
There are 55 students involved in the club this year.
The 2nd Annual BHS DECA Entrepreneurship Luncheon took place on Friday, February 8. Six entrepreneurs from Logan County conducted a question and answer session with 100 students regarding the ins and outs of owning and operating a business in today's economy. The theme for the luncheon was "Find the Sloan in YOU" in honor of Dr. Earl Sloan, one of Logan County's entrepreneurs.
DECA is holding a BEA Apparel Sale Monday, February 11 through Friday, March 1. The apparel sale is full of chieftain gear that DECA sells to all of Bellefontaine’s Chieftains. Each year DECA coordinates the Bellefontaine Education Association's Apparel Sale in the fall and spring. Order forms will be available in the high school’s main office soon.
Helping Hands, Helping Hearts will be on Thursday, February 14. Marketing 2 students will visit four of the area’s retirement and nursing homes to distribute cards and candies to the residents in celebration of Valentine's Day.
On Wednesday, February 27, BHS DECA will host the Buy Local Logan County Reception from 6 to 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. At this event, area businesses will celebrate the campaign and discuss how to move forward, promoting the benefits of shopping locally in the future in order to improve our area economy.
In the fall students were made aware of the social injustices occurring in portions of Uganda via the Kony 2012 Movement. DECA is working to keep the momentum going locally by letting students know what they can do to help in 2013 in conjunction with the Invisible Children Organization.
During February, students will be educated on how they can become financially savvy. They will be encouraged to manage their finances appropriately now so they can thrive financially later in life. DECA is also promoting the First Annual Logan County Free Financial Seminar to be held on March 19 and 21 at BHS from 6 to 8 p.m.
