Twenty-three Marketing 1 students from Bellefontaine High School excelled in the Ohio DECA District 3 competition at Ohio Northern University on Monday. BHS competed in 17 different events and brought home 7 trophies.

Bringing home DECA Diamonds for the Chiefs were junior Jessica Miller who placed first overall in Apparel and Accessories, junior Kelsie Blair who placed second overall in Principles of Marketing, junior Andrew Carothers placed fifth in Automotive, and junior Keith Wisecup placed fourth in Business Finance. All four will advance to the Ohio DECA Career Development Conference.
Also bringing home diamonds for the Chiefs were seniors Zach Titus and Roman Miller with a fourth place finish in Financial Services, junior Stevie Norris with a second place finish and senior Austin Lamb with a fourth place finish in the Marketing Test Event.
Joining Miller, Blair, Carothers, and Wisecup will be 20 Marketing 2 Students as they compete in written project categories. Teams include: Sarah and Shelby Phillips in Business Operations Research, Ian Keller and Josh Brunson in Entrepreneurship Written, McKinley Manns, Aleesha Carothers, and Shelbi Kauffman in Learn and Earn, Bo Alexander, Keyne Strickland, and Jacob Roberts in Public Relations, Brandon Gasper and Tyler Roberts in Financial Literacy Promotion, Josh Neighoff and Dhaile Ballesteros in Entrepreneurship Promotion, Patrick Tarasiewicz, Josh Haisley, and Dyllan Laber in Creative Marketing Project, and Cheyanne Hunter, Morgan Ferguson, and Alyssa Allour in Community Service Project.
The Ohio DECA Career Development Conference will be held on March 15th-16th at the Columbus Convention Center. During the event students from across the state will meet to compete for spots at the International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California this spring.
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. BHS DECA is associated to the Marketing Management and Cooperative Education Program at the high school. Katie Rychener is their advisor.
