A local teen was killed in a one-vehicle accident east of Rushsylvania in the 3000 block of State Route 274 East Sunday morning.
The Logan County Sheriff's Office reports that Brandon Dilts, 19, of 6490 County Road 112, Rushsylvania, was driving a 2006 Chevy Malibu westbound on 274 when he drove off the left side of the roadway, struck a fence post, then traveled across the ditch, went airborne, and struck a tree.
Deputies report that excessive speed may have been a contributing factor.
Authorities are awaiting lab tests to determine if alcohol may have played a factor in the crash.
A passerby reported the accident Sunday morning at 8:40. Deputies are not sure what time the accident happened.
Rushcreek Fire and EMS along with the Logan County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
