An alert neighbor prevented a theft in Russells Point Wednesday afternoon around five o'clock.
The neighbor saw Anthony Robinson (pictured), 31, of 11434 Tecumseh Path, Lakeview, tampering with a boat near Chase Avenue.
When the witness asked for the boat owner's name, the suspect said Robinson.
The neighbor knew this was a lie. As he left to contact authorities, Robinson fled the area.
The Russells Point Police Department stopped the suspect's vehicle on Route 33 just outside of the village around seven p.m.
After an officer noticed criminal indicators, a K-9 unit from the Waynesfield Police Department searched the car. Authorities recovered a small amount of drugs.
Robinson, who was driving, was arrested. He was charged with theft and criminal trespass, then lodged in the Logan County Jail.
A passenger, Peggy Cooley, 20, of 7714 Kooteney Path, Huntsville, was issued a summons for possession of drugs.
The Russells Point Police Department touted the work of the Neighborhood Watch, which encourages citizens to help keep the community safe.
The Neighborhood Watch meets on the third Thursday of each month at seven p.m. at the Russells Point Municipal Building on State Route 708.
