Slick roads lead to pair of accidents on Route 33

The Marysville Post of the State Highway Patrol responded to a couple of weather-related accidents on Route 33 following last night's snowfall.

Troopers were sent to a one-vehicle crash on 33 at the County Road 5 bridge near Zanesfield Wednesday night around 9:50.

Juan McMackin, 26, of 244 Shady Lane Drive, Bellefontaine, was driving a 2010 Toyota pickup westbound when he lost control, then went off the left side of the road and struck a concrete barrier and guardrail.

McMackin, who was wearing his seat belt, complained of a sore head.

Tri-Valley EMS responded, but McMackin was not transported.

He was cited for failure to control.

The pickup suffered disabling damage.

Troopers report that a jackknifed semi closed the westbound lanes of Route 33 Thursday morning around 12:20.

Dwight Welsh, 48, of 103 Linden Street, Anna, was driving a 2012 Volvo westbound on 33 west of Route 68 when he lost control and went off the right side of the road.

Welsh, who was wearing his seat belt, was not injured.

He was cited for failure to control.

The semi was not damaged.
