Update: Serious motorcycle accident on State Route 274

An area motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle accident in the 12000 block of State Route 274 Wednesday morning just before ten o’clock.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office reports that an eastbound 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Stephen W. DeWeese, 53, of Sidney, was struck by a westbound commercial truck attempting to make a left turn into Mid States Packaging (near County Road 21).

DeWeese was transported from the scene by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital and is listed in critical condition.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office says DeWeese was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The motorcycle sustained heavy damage.

The truck driver, Paul J. Kaszubowski, 46, of Southgate, MI was not injured and was cited for failure to yield while turning left.

Kaszubowski was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Lakeview Fire Department and Indian Lake EMS assisted at the scene.
