Bellefontaine man arrested for alcohol-related stabbing

A stabbing near Bellefontaine led to a felony arrest Sunday morning around 1:15.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office reports that Adan Hernandez, 27, got into a fight with Mateo Alonso, 20, at their 170 McKeestown Road apartment late Saturday night.

Authorities report both men had been drinking and got into a fight over “respect.”

Deputies found Alonso in a rear bedroom.

He had a cut to his right hand and several scrapes on his face.

His hand had been bleeding.

There were spots of blood throughout the apartment.

Hernandez had a rug burn on his left knee and dried blood on his hands.

Deputies were unable to locate the small pocket knife used in the attack.

They believe Hernandez may have discarded the knife outside.

Hernandez admitted to the fight, but he denied using a knife.

He was charged with felonious assault and lodged in the Logan County Jail.

The Macochee Joint Ambulance District treated Alonso at the scene.

He refused transport to the hospital.

Deputies said getting information was an issue.

Hernandez and Alonso don't speak English.

Their employer helped deputies gather statements.
